I recently had the privilege of valuing a powerful, museum-bound Jacob Lawrence drawing. Having had the pleasure of working with Jacob and Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence at Francine Seders Gallery in Seattle and DC Moore Gallery in New York, it was thrilling to encounter this work in a local collection.
On August 29, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened Jacob Lawrence: The American Struggle, a thirty-panel series of scenes from American history painted between 1954 and 1956. The exhibition closes November 1, 2020 and is accompanied by a catalogue edited by Elizabeth Hutton Turner and Austen Barron Bailly.
